Track for track, Journey Back to Me is a solidly crafted body of work by Erik Rico that is heavily rooted in the quality soul of yesteryear, but with all of the freshness and grit from today’s electronica complete with poignant lyrical content. Although, this is Erik Rico’s debut solo album as an independent artist, his professional career began 10 years ago when American Idol's Randy Jackson, then V.P. of Sony/Columbia Records, discovered Erik’s talents and quickly signed him to multi album solo artist deal. However, Erik broke his contract with Sony after 2 years and no material was ever released. Eventually, Erik shifted efforts in Los Angeles towards production where he was tapped to do projects for Tupac Shakur, 4th Avenue Jones, Ladybug Mecca, Dave Ghetto, Jurassic 5 and others.
Erik’s love is not only felt stateside from the likes of Projectvibe, Fusicology Neosoul Café and KCRW, but stations worldwide such as Germany’s Beyondjazz, UK’s NuWaveRadio, Solar Radio and Smoke.fm, Spain’s DV.fm, Paris’ DoMeRight and Australia’s Straightup have included Journey Back to Me in their playlists.
